Three arrested on charge of extorting money by claiming to be inspectors of CIAA

KATHMANDU, July 3: Police have arrested three individuals from Mahottari district on charge of extorting money by claiming to be inspectors of the Commission for Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

The arrestees have been identified as Rabi Thakur, 30, of Jaleswar Municipality-12, Prabash Jha, 29, and Hamid Rahin, 21, from Loharpatti Municipality.

According to SP Krishna Pangeni of Mohattari, these people were extorting money from people traveling in and out via the Nepal-India border point at Jaleswar Municipality-12 claiming to be ‘inspectors’ working for CIAA.
