Govt to provide discount on electricity duty to reduce consumption of LPG

KATHMANDU, June 21: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Dilendra Prasad Badu has maintained that the government will provide a discount in electricity duty to consumers in a bid to reduce consumption of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG).

“The government will increase the consumption of electricity from the next fiscal year cutting the consumption of LPG”, Minister Badu said.

Addressing a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday, Minister Badu maintained that preparations are underway to reduce the consumption of LP gas used for cooking and to increase the consumption of electricity by subsidizing the power duty and cutting taxes for electric equipment.
