Govt compelled to hike price of petroleum products: Minister Badu

KATHMANDU, June 20: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Dilendra Prasad Badu maintained that the government is compelled to hike the price of petroleum products.
Addressing a meeting of the committee under the House of Representatives (HoR), Minister Badu said that the government is compelled to increase the price of petroleum products as the price has gone up in the international markets.
“The government is not in the position to buy petroleum products at a high cost and sell it to the public at a lower cost,” Minister Badu said.
According to Minister Badu, the government is buying a liter of petrol at Rs 209.28 and selling to the general public at Rs 199 per liter. “The Nepal Oil Corporation is bearing a loss of Rs 9.63 billion per month”, Minister Badu further added.
