Private, public schools to have two public holidays a week from May 15

KATHMANDU, May 11: The government has decided to grant two public holidays a week – Sunday and Saturday – to both public and private schools from May 15.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology took a decision to this effect on Wednesday.
According to Deepak Sharma, spokesperson for the Education Ministry, both the public and private schools will remain closed on Sunday and Saturday from May 15.
With this decision in effect, schools will now be allowed to remain closed for only 30 days in a year.
Prior to this, schools used to have 50 days additional holidays except public holidays including monsoon, winter and festival holidays.
