Nepal-India joint border patrol at Birgunj border points

KATHMANDU, May 11: As the local level election is all set to kick off on Friday, the government has begun closing Nepal-India border points to ensure security during the polls.

The government has already closed Parsa-based Nepal-India border points since last night. The Birgunj border point will remain closed till May 13.

The Nepal police along with Indian security personnel are patrolling the borders to avoid people’s movement.

The two countries have agreed to carry out a joint patrol, according to SP Ramesh Basnet of Parsa district.

Personnel of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Indian Sashastra Seema Bal are currently patrolling the border points.
