Local poll silence period begins: Know the code of conduct

KATHMANDU, May 11: As the local level elections are on our door steps, the silence period has begun from today.

During this special period, election campaigns are prohibited in all forms.

The poll body has already asked political parties and candidates to remove publicity materials kept within 300 meters of the polling centers. Likewise, the government has decided to ban public transport on election day.

Here are things that are prohibited during the silence period:

- election campaigns in all forms

- asking for votes

- using social media platforms for election campaigns, persuading voters, publicity 

- publication of any news contents that intends to persuade voters, ask for vote or promote election campaigns

The local level election is all set to kick off on May 13.
