AIG Pokharel demands to be appointed as IGP

Pokharel filed a writ petition against the government’s move to appoint Dheeraj Prakash Singh as new IGP

KATHMANDU, May 2: Additional Inspector General (AIG) Bishwaraj Pokharel on Monday filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court against the government’s move to appoint Dheeraj Prakash Singh as new IGP.

Pokharel has also demanded the government to scrap the appointment and appoint him to the post as per his seniority, performance and achievements. 

Pokharel has also termed the government’s decision to promote Singh as a move against the prevailing law.

The government on Sunday appointed Dheeraj Prakash Singh to the post of  IGP of Nepal Police and Raju Aryal to the post of IGP of Armed Police Force. 

Singh and Aryal were presented with insignia by Tek Narayan Pandey, Secretary of Home Affairs amid an event held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday.
