Shah's Statement: I slept with Kamal Khatri that night
KATHMANDU, March 24: Paul Shah, an actor who has been accused of rape by a minor, has maintained that he used to meet with the girl and talk to her in course of business.
“We met for the first time at Sankhu in Kathmandu. We got to know each other and exchanged our phone numbers. We used to exchange messages on social media as well,” Paul has said, adding that they used to stay together in various locations while shooting music videos.
According to Shah, the girl and Shah slept in separate rooms at Dulegauda-based Pradip Thapa’s house on May 7, 2021.
According to Shah, the girl and Shah exchanged texts till late at night. He then went to the victim's room at around 11:45 PM, shared beer with her and returned to his room. “I slept with Kamal Khatri that night,” Shah has said in his statement.
Shah has also maintained that the victim called him and told that her menstruation had stopped. The incident occurred around Mid-June 2021.
Shah also received texts from the victim reading “You should accept me”.
“I have also committed to marry her when she reaches an appropriate age at Baneshwar of Kathmandu in the presence of her mother, singer Durgesh Thapa, Saroj Oli, Yogesh Kaji and Krishna Joshi among others,” Shah has said. “Besides, I was unaware that the girl was younger than 18 years old.”
