EC to virtually monitor vote count in upcoming local polls

KATHMANDU, March 24: The Election Commission will be monitoring the vote count virtually in the upcoming local level elections.

The poll body will be monitoring the vote count through a video live in some of the high political and sensitive zones.

“There will be virtual monitoring in areas identified as sensitive by the poll body and security bodies during the vote count,” said Surya Prasad Aryal, deputy spokesperson of the commission. “The commission will be monitoring the vote count in such areas directly and resolve the issues, if any, immediately,” he further said.

Besides, the poll body has decided to mobilize a special Information Technology (IT) team to monitor the social media platforms during the election.

“If anyone is found misusing the platforms, disseminating misinformation regarding the elections, defaming any individuals or making negative comments, actions will be taken against it,” said Aryal.
