Gyalpo Lhosar begins, public holiday today

KATHMANDU, March 3: Gyalpo Lhosar, a main festival of the Buddhist community, has begun from today.

The festival is marked for 15 days in Sherpa and Tibetan communities. 

The government has granted a public day on Thursday marking the celebration. 

On her best wishes, President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that unity in diversity, a unique identity of Nepal, has helped further consolidate our national strength extending greetings for happiness, peace and prosperity among all sisters and brothers at home and abroad. 

She also expressed the hope that such festivals would increase unity, harmony and fraternity among Nepali people and help further strengthen broader national unity.
