As many as 34 political parties scheduled to stage protest against MCC in capital today

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: As the government prepares to ratify the Millennium Challenge Corporate-Nepal Compact (MCC) compact agreement, as many as 34 political parties including the member of ruling alliance are scheduled to stage protests in the capital on Friday.

The protests are mostly focused at the New Baneshwar area, where the federal parliament building lies.

It has been learnt that the protesters have planned to picket the federal parliament building from three sides.

The CPN (Maoist Center) has decided to stage a nationwide protest against the MCC agreement on Friday.

The government has mobilized a large number of security personnel at the Maitighar-Baneshwar road section. 

A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is scheduled for 1 PM today to discuss the ratification of the compact.
