KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Senior Justice Deep Kumar Karki has been appointed the acting Chief Justice (CJ) of the Supreme Court following a registration of an impeachment motion against CJ Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana.
With the registration of an impeachment motion, CJ Rana was suspended. As per the constitutional provision, a person who is charged with impeachment is barred to discharge the duties of his or her office.
With this Karki will now also be granted the role of Chairman of the Judicial Council and member of the Constitutional Council.
