Nepal records highest single spike of 11,352 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday

Of the total cases detected today, 6,343 were recorded in the Kathmandu Valley alone.

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Nepal recorded the highest single-day rise of 11,352 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), of 23,409 tests conducted today, as many as 11,352 turned out to be positive. The number is so far the highest single-day rise of COVID-19 in the country, according to Dr. Sameer Kumar Adhikary, the joint spokesperson at the Health Ministry.

Similarly, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 6,343 new cases of the disease on Wednesday. Of them, 578 were detected in Bhaktapur, 1,019 in Lalitpur and 4,666 in Kathmandu districts.
