Valley CDOs to hold meeting today to discuss smart lockdown

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: The chief district officers (CDOs) of three districts in the Kathmandu Valley, Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts, are holding a meeting on Tuesday to discuss enforcing smart lockdown.

The Home Ministry has granted the authority to local governments to enforce lockdown as per the COVID-19 situation. 

“After discussing with experts and authorities concerned, a common decision will be taken,” Ghanshyam Upadhyaya, CDO of Lalitpur district told Ratopati. 

In recent days, the number of new cases of COVID-19 amid the outbreak of Omicron variant across the country especially in the Kathmandu Valley.

The valley alone reported 876 new corona cases on Monday. 

The government has already decided to close schools across the country till January 29 in the view of growing transmission of the disease.

Besides, the government has made Vaccine Cards mandatory at public places beginning from January 21 and restricted the gathering of more than 25 people at a place.
