Hearing on Alam’s case deferred again

KATHMANDU, Dec 31: A scheduled hearing on a writ petition filed by a former minister and Nepali Congress (NC) leader Mohammad Aftab Alam at the Supreme Court (SC) has been postponed yet again.

The case was scheduled to be heard by a division bench of justices duo Hari Krishan Karki and Prakash Kumar Dhungana on Friday.

The hearing was deferred as the case was enlisted as ‘could not be heard due to time crunch’.

Earlier, the hearing over the same petition had been postponed on October 22 as asked by the Office of Attorney General. Justices duo Dr Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Nahakul Subedi were to hear the case.

Alam, who is in custody following the orders by the district and high courts for his involvement in the 2008 Rautahat mass murder,  had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court, requesting for his bail.
