Patan High Court gives green signal for NRNA election

KATHMANDU, December 6: The Patan High Court has allowed the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) to continue its election process ordering the latter that it is not required to follow the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

A division bench of justices duo Sherman Kumar Gautam and Narishwar Bhandari passed the verdict to allow NRNA’s President Kuamr Panta-led International Coordination Committee to continue the election process, upholding the similar verdict passed by Justice Nripadwaj Niraula-led bench on the same case.

Meanwhile, NRNA President Panta dubbed the verdict as a ‘historic’ one.

Earlier, the MoFA had sent letters making various directions for the election of the association.

The association then accused the MoFA of interfering in the election of the association.

MoFA on the other hand has been directing NRNA to postpone the election time and again citing disputes in selection of representatives for the election.
