NBA staging  nationwide protests against CJ Rana from Sunday, announces to boycott hearings except habeas corpus

KATHMANDU, November 21: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has announced to boycott all kinds of hearings across the country except cases of habeas corpus.

The NBA has begun its third phase of protest against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana demanding his resignation all across the country from Sunday.

The NBA has already refused to hold discussions with CJ Rana citing that the resignation of CJ Rana is the bottom line of their protest.

Earlier, the Supreme Court introduced a lottery system for scheduling of the cases for hearing as per the demand of agitating advocates but the judicial deadlock seems to end no time soon.

The association has been staging sit-in protests at the apex court, boycotting benches demanding the resignation of CJ Rana. Agitating advocates have sustained injuries in clashes with security personnel triggered by intensified protests in recent days.
