Educational institutions with 100-bed hospital to be allowed to run nursing classes
KATHMANDU, November 13: Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) has decided to allow only those educational institutions with their own hospital (with 100 beds) to teach Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) nursing courses.
A meeting of the council held recently under the chairmanship of Davendra Poudel, Chairman of CTEVT and Minister of Education, Science and Technology took the decision to this effect.
As per the meeting decisions, only those colleges meeting the criteria will be allowed to enroll new students. With this, the long-awaited enrollment of nursing students will come to an end soon, according to Jeevan Kafle, member secretary of CTEVT.
The Medical Education Commission has already granted permission for education institutes with their own 100-beds hospital to begin enrollment of new students.
With this decision in effect, of 109 CTEVT level institutes, only 24 have been able to meet the criteria. Of them, 17 are private colleges. RSS
