Demanding the resignation of CJ Rana, NBA staged a sit-in protest on Sunday as well. The umbrella association of legal practioners justices have been accusing CJ Rana of demanding a share in Cabinet, not implementing the report of Justice Hari Krishna Karki and defaming the judiciary.
The agitating justices and advocates have also decided to boycott the bench unless CJ Rana steps down.
According to SC sources, CJ Rana demanded a ‘graceful exit’ during a meeting held with agitating justices on Sunday. It has been learnt that CJ has proposed not to resign immediately but in the near future.
As the judicial deadlock deepens, the apex court has failed to hear and pass verdict on various national issues. The apex court was scheduled to pass a verdict on ‘Lalita Niwas case’ filed against former Prime Minister Babu Ram Bhattarai and Madhav Kumar Nepal. But, due to the growing controversies in the court, the apex court is due to conduct hearings on only six habeas corpus petitions on Monday.
