Flash floods inundate more than 100 places in Kathmandu, 138 rescued (Photos)

KATHMANDU, September 6: Heavy rainfall that occurred last night has inundated more than 100 places in Kathmandu. 

According to SP Sushil Singh Rathore, spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police Office, security personnel were mobilized in more than 100 places in Kathmandu last night.

“Rescue efforts are currently underway at Mulpani settlements on the bank of Manohara River, Kadagari and Balkhu area,” said SSP Rathore.

Most of the human settlements on the rivers bank in Kathmandu have been inundated by flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall.

Areas like Tankeshwor, Dallu, Teku, Tachal, Banaspati Chowk, Naya Buspark, Paropakar Kendra, Macha Pokhari, Gueshwori, Jorpati and Kalopul areas were largely inundated by flash floods last night.

Teams of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army have rescued more than 138 people last night. A total of 382 houses have been inundated by flash floods, according to the Metropolitan Police Office.
