10 protesting against MCC in front of American Embassy arrested

KATHMANDU, September 3: The police have arrested 10 people protesting against the Millennium Corporate Challenge (MCC) in front of the American Embassy in Kathmandu on Friday.

The arrestees were representing the ‘Scrap MCC National Campaign’ and all of them were males, according to Ramesh Basnet, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Circle.

These people protested in front of the American Embassy at Maharajgunj displaying placards.

Meanwhile, Fatema Z. Sumar, vice president of the Department of Compact Operations at the Millenium Challenge Corporation, is scheduled to visit Nepal next week.

As officials representing MCC are soon to visit Nepal, a huge outcry has erupted among those who are against it.

Not only the general public, but politicians and leaders also have different views toward MCC.
