NHRC directs govt to rescue Nepali nationals stranded in Afghanistan

KATHMANDU, August: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Tapa Bahadur Magar has directed the government to rescue Nepali nationals left stranded in Afghanistan via diplomatic channels.   

At a discussion with the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bharatraj Poudel and Director General of Department of Foreign Employment Krishna Prasad Dawadi, NHRC Chairman Magar urged the government to rescue Nepalis from Afghanistan.  

On the occasion, Secretary Poudel and Director General Dawadi said that the government was continuing diplomatic efforts to rescue Nepalis via diplomatic missions.   

They said that some Nepalis were rescued to safer zones while some others were brought to the country.   

According to the press release issued by spokesperson at the Commission Dr Tikaram Bhattarai, Nepali migrant workers who landed in Afghanistan without receiving a labour permit were in a vulnerable situation and should be rescued soon.
