Tokyo Olympics: Nepal's Sonia defeated by Russian athlete

TOKYO, July 24: Sonia Bhatta of Nepal lost to her Russian opponent in the 32nd summer Olympics underway in Tokyo, Japan.

In the match held under round of 32 earlier on Satruday in the women's 48 kg category, Sonia was defeated by Erina Dolgova of Russia.

Sonia was defeated on the basis of ippon score, after a bout of 1 minute 16 seconds.

A wild card entry into the Olympics, Sonia stands in the 127th position in the World Judo rankings. Dolgova is in the 9th position. Earlier today, Kalpana Pariyar also faced a defeat in 10 meter air rifle shooting competition.
