Leaders embroiled in corruption will face action: NC senior leader Poudel

Gaighat–Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said the party will take stern action if any of its leaders was found implicated in corruption, notwithstanding whatever that leader's position in the party.

Senior leader Poudel said this while addressing a press conference organised by Press Union Udayapur at the NC party office in Gaighat, the headquarters of Udayapur district today.

He is in Gaighat in connection with the party work. Stating that the names of leaders of various political parties, including NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba, have been implicated in the Baluwatar land scam, the Ncell tax scam and the Wide-body airplane purchase scam, he said they were ready to take action against the party president Deuba himself, if it is proven that he is involved in any scam.

Leader Poudel said that although the incumbent government has a lot of opportunities to carryout meaningful works for public welfare, it has not been able to do so up to the people's expectations.

As he said, a war of words was going on between the ruling side and the opposition side at present, and this war of words was not for strengthening the democracy and federalism.

The NC senior leader said both the ruling and the opposition sides should be courteous towards each other and remain within the parliamentary decorum while speaking.

Leader Poudel said the NC would not be affected by minor issues within the party as it was a political party with a long history. He suggested the present government to focus on bringing agriculture revolution and tourism development in the country, than making tall speeches. Poudel said that he could also contest for the post of party president in the party's general convention, if required. ---
