Nepal loses to Thailand in ICC Women World Cup T-20 Cricket Championship

Kathmandu–Nepal was defeated by Thailand in the second match of the ICC Women World Cup T-20 Cricket Championship qualifier today. 


The match was held at the Asian Institute of Technology's cricket ground in Bangkok, Thailand. Thailand won the match by 57 runs. 


Nepal, which was chasing a 125-run victory target, was confined to 67 runs in 20 overs, losing eight wickets. 
No Nepali player except Indu Barma and Sarita Rana Magar could accomplish runs in two digits. Barma made 32 runs and Magar 18 runs. 


Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Thailand earlier amassed 124 runs in 20 overs by losing seven wickets. Chanida Sithuruwang made thehighest 35 runs, Narumol Chaimai 32 runs, Wnagpaka Lingprarsat 28 runs and Nataya Bochatham 12 runs for Thailand. 


Towards bowling, Nepal's Neri Thapa and Krishna Kunwar took two wickets each while captain Rubina Chhetri and Karuna Bhandari took one wicket each. 


The winner of this qualifier championship held on the basis of round robin would be selected to play the ICC Women T-20 World Cup Global Qualifier. 


This is Nepal's first defeat of the ongoing tournament after playing two matches. Before this, Nepal had defeated Malaysia by 34 runs in its first match.
