Landslides sweep away water projects, people depend on rainwater

Panchthar - Acute shortage of drinking water resulted from damages to water resources and drinking water projects from landslides caused by incessant rains in Phalelung and Hilihang Rural Municipalities has hard hit the locals. 

Most of water sources at Wards 3, 4, 5 and 6 in the village were swept away by the landslides, forcing the people to depend on rainwater for cooking food and doing other domestic works. 

A total of 183 households at Malebung and Kholaghari of Phalelung-3 have been deprived of drinking water after the landslide damaged two local water projects there last Friday morning, said Phalelung Rural Municipality-3 ward chair Bir Bikram Thamsuhang. Likewise, three water projects at Malebung were swept away by the mudslide.
