55 – year – old trips over and drowns in a dyke

Ratnanagar (Chitwan) - A 55 – year – old drowned in a dyke beside an irrigated field in Chitwan on Monday.

The District Police Office in Chitwan has identified the deceased as Govinda Adhikari, a native of Bharatpur Metropolitan City – 14.

Chitwan's Superintendent of Police (SP), Deepak Thapa, said Adhikari was walking on a field when he tripped and fell into the dyke and drowned. His body was later taken to the Bharatpur Hospital for an autopsy report.

He was slightly drunk at the time of the incident, according to locals. His tipsy state has not been determined as the actual cause leading to the mishap.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 33 – year – old woman of the city has committed suicide. Ranjana Shrestha from Bharatpur Metropolis – 6 hanged herself on a noose made of shawl.
