COVID-19 Update: Nepal reports 3,260 new cases , 2,294 recoveries and 32 deaths

KATHMANDU, Aug 12: Nepal on Thursday added 3,260 new cases of the coronavirus disease on Thursday taking the total number of infections since March 23, 2020 to 798,651. 

The new cases were detected through 15,462 (10,806 RT-PCR and 4,656 antigen) tests carried out across the country, said the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its regular media release. 

Meanwhile, 2,294 patients reported recovery in the past 24 hours as of Thursday afternoon. This has taken the country’s recovery rate to 93.3 percent, meaning 677,377 people won their battle against the fatal disease. 

As of Thursday, a total of 10,212 people have succumbed to the coronavirus disease including 32 more fatalities confirmed in the past 24 hours. 

Nepal had reported the first death due to COVID-19 infection on May 16, 2020.
