Storm damages houses, crops in Shuklagandaki

 

TANAHU, June 8: A storm occurred here on Monday evening caused damages to around a dozen of houses near the Dhorbarahi temple of Shuklagandaki-9 in the district.  The local residents are in the distress after the storm blew away the roofs of houses.

Locals Bishnu Lamsal, Hari Bahadur Mahat, Krishna Thapa, Khem Bahadur Sunar, Shibaraj Baral, Lalu Lamsal and Chitra Bahadur Baniya are among those who suffered the loss from the wind.
 
Besides, the storm has disrupted the electricity supply system, forcing the locals to stay in dark.

Dhorbarahi Agro Farm proprietor and local Shibaraj Lamsal said the Monday’s wind was such a strong one they ever knew before. 

"The wind has knocked down the electricity poles and we have to stay in the dark," he said adding that that school children of the area who attend the online classes are likely to be affected by the disruption of power supply. 
The Himali Primary School at the locality has suffered the damages.  

Lamsal informed that the roofs of four houses at Patan Chowk in Shuklagandaki-8 were blown away by the wind. The hailstorm has damaged maize, vegetable and banana farming as well. Ward Chair of Shuklagandaki-8 Krishna Prasad Regmi said power pole collapsed and the wires got snapped in the powerful wind.   

The solar plant at Barahi Primary School in the same ward was also  blown away by the wind. The local representative said the further details of the loss are yet to be collected.
