Journalist Ghimire arrested on kidnapping charge

Kakadvitta - Journalist Pujan Ghimire, the mastermind behind the kidnapping of Jeevan Bista, has been arrested after five months.

Ghimire was arrested after he failed to submit a bail of Rs 15 million at the court on Sunday. He had made a plan to kidnap Bista to take over the land worth millions of rupees belonging to Bista located at Birtamod of Jhapa district.

Ghimire has been remanded to District Jail, Jhapa, on the same day. Before this, the then Communications Minister Surendra Karki's personal secretary, Raju Acharya, as well as Ajar Rai, Raju Kunwar and the then Nayab Subba of the District Administration Office, Jhapa, Tejindra Neupane, involved in the case, have already been released on general date after submitting bail.

Bista had on April 7 filed a complaint at Area Police Office, Birtamod, against them, saying they forcibly took over the land after taking him hostage at Garamani-based Shuvakamana Hotel on January 26, 2017.

Police had arrested them except Pujan on the basis of complaint filed by Bista. Pujan was at large after the incident.
