How to acquire permission for your vehicle to ply roads on election day?

KATHMANDU, May 6: The local level election is all set to kick off on May 13. The government has declared a public holiday on the day and the public vehicles won’t be plying the roads.

According to the Election Commission, the emergency vehicles and vehicles of candidates and candidate’s election representatives have been granted permission to ply the roads.

The permissions for the vehicles can be issued by the poll body, chief election commissioner, election officer and the chief district administrative officers.

Those seeking the permissions will have to file their application by May 11. The vehicles with foreign number plates won’t be granted the permission to hit the roads on the election day.  

Likewise, ambulances, water tankers, fire brigades, vehicles used for telecommunication services and electricity services along with hearses and vehicles used by diplomatic offices will not require such permissions.
