Vitamin 'A' and deworming tablets being administered to children today as well
Kathmandu, Nov 7: The Nutrition Branch of the Department of Health Services has said that vitamin 'A' capsules and deworming tablets will be administered to children today also under the National Vitamin-A Programme.
Lila Bikram Thapa, Head of Nutrition Branch, said that children aged six months to 59 months will be given vitamin 'A' and children aged one to five years will be given deworming medicine today as well.
The second phase of the vitamin 'A' programme will be administered on April 19 and 20.
Fifty-two thousand female health volunteers and 15,000 health workers have been deployed to implement this programme.
The government has been administering vitamin 'A' capsules since 1993 to prevent the risk of malnutrition in children, and it has started regularly giving deworming medicine since 1999.
