Hearing of writ petition filed against appointment of IGP underway

KATHMANDU, May 2: Hearing of the writ petition filed by Additional Inspector General (AIG) Bishwaraj Pokharel against the government’s move to appoint Dheeraj Prakash Singh to the post of  IGP of Nepal Police is currently underway at the Supreme Court.

The hearing is being conducted by a single bench of Justice Sushmalata Mathema. 

Pokharel in his petition has demanded the government to scrap the appointment and appoint him to the post as per his seniority, performance and achievements. 

The government on Sunday appointed Dheeraj Prakash Singh to the post of  IGP of Nepal Police and Raju Aryal to the post of IGP of Armed Police Force. 

Singh and Aryal were presented with insignia by Tek Narayan Pandey, Secretary of Home Affairs amid an event held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday.
