Travel restrictions imposed on outgoing police chief Khapung

Kathmandu, Nov 13: The Commission formed to investigate the September 89 Gen Z Movement has barred Chandra Kuber Khapung, who retired as the Inspector General of Police today, from travelling abroad.

According to Commission Spokesperson Bigyan Raj Sharma, a meeting of the Commission today decided to restrict Khapung who retired from the service today from traveling outside the Valley without it prior permission and from leaving the country. The decision was made as he may be required to appear before the inquiry body at any time for investigation into the matters.

Khapung was serving as the chief of Nepal Police during the Gen Z Movement.

Earlier, the Commission had also imposed travel restrictions on five people, including former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, in connection with the same movement.
