NASeA gets first woman chair in 30 years
Kathmandu, Nov 7: Bidya Gurung has been elected as Chairperson of Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA).
The 34th conference of the NASeA held in Atlanta of the United States of America elected Gurung to the post for four years.
Nepalese residing in Georgia, Seattle, Chicago, Colorado, Maryland, Alabama, North and South Carolina, Florida and Washington DC had participated in the conference.
The organisation has got woman Chairperson for the first time after 30 years of its establishment. She has already served as Board Director of the organisation for two terms and leadership of women committee. Gurung has been playing significant role in welfare, rights of Nepali community as well as promotion of Nepali art and culture sector since 25 years.
Similarly, Dr Dilip Panthi (North Carolina) is the executive vice-chair of the organisation while Pranaya Lama and Sikshya Gautam (Georgia), Bimala Adhikari and Puran Raj Khatiwada are vice-chair, general-secretary, joint-secretary and treasurer respectively.
Rajendra Neupane (South Carolina), Subas Pokhrel (Maryland), Dr Shankar Parajuli (Massachusetts), Hom Lamsal (North Carolina), Kalpana Bhattarai (Georgia), Kusum Baral (South Carolina), Guru Prasad Dhungel (South Carolina), Rama Pahari (Florida), Rubi Baral (Georgia), Pratibha Khadka (Virginia), Abhiraj Rajbanshi (South Carolina), Nishant Aryal (Georgia), Nay Narayan Shah (Louisiana), Sangita Malla and Parbati Timalsina (North Carolina) were elected members unopposed.
