Task force formed to facilitate govt operation holding first meeting

KATHMANDU, July 23: A task force, which was formed to facilitate the operation of the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led coalition government, is holding its first meeting on Friday. 

According to Ramesh Lekhak, a Nepali Congress (NC) leader and a member of the task force, the meeting began at 4 PM at the official residence of the prime minister in Baluwatar. 

The panel headed by NC General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka includes Minendra Rikal and Lekhak from NC, Barshaman Pun and Dev Gurung from CPN (Maoist Center) and Rajendra Shrestha and Mahendra Ray Yadav from the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP)’s Upendra Yadav-faction. 

The meeting is expected to formulate common policies and programs for the operation of the government and standards for political appointments and division of the ministries among parties, and present its suggestions and recommendations to the government. 

Lekhak said that the task force will carry out its activities to strengthen the ruling alliance.
