PM Deuba wins trust motion

KATHMANDU, July 18: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has won a trust motion from the House of Representatives (HoR). 

Deuba, who was appointed the prime minister as per Article 76 (5) of the constitution, tabled the motion at the lower House of parliament 25 days before the deadline. As per Article 76 (6), he is required to take the trust vote within 30 days days of his appointment. 

Of the 271 members of the 275-member HoR, the majority of lawmakers ---- 165--- voted in favor of Nepali Congress President and parliamentary party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba. Eighty three lawmakers stood against Deuba while  one  opted to stay neutral. 

With this, Deuba will remain as the prime minister until the next general election. The lower House’s current term is due to expire nearly after one and a half years.
